Overview
Deep snow covers a meadow and drapes the branches of the many evergreens. A bright sun shines out of the clear, blue sky and sparkles on the tips of crystal icicles. Picturesque and full of adventures, this is winter you can enjoy. This where snow and ice mean cross country skiing fun and recreation. The Vista Verde cross country ski lodge is located on the edge of the Continental Divide and the Zirkel Wilderness Area. They are a guest ranch lodge covering over 500 acres of forest, meadow and pasture. The lodge features more than 30 km of groomed trails, including double-tracks and skating lanes, two groomed telemark hills, plus unlimited trails in the surrounding backcountry. You might say that Vista Verde is a dude ranch, luxury ranch, cross country skiing lodge, working ranch, and a western ranch resort all rolled up into one.
Vista Verde has ski guides who are able to take small, individualized tours out into the backcountry or give lessons on the groomed trails. You can also choose to go snowmobiling, dog sledding, ice climbing, hot air ballooning, or downhill skiing. Being a guest ranch, you can also choose to go horseback riding or take a sleigh ride. The vacation program is varied and flexible, so you can do as much or as little as you please. The guests are limited to 20 or so, a comfortable number that enables you to enjoy your surroundings, make new friends and just plain relax.
The creative chefs will tantalize your taste buds with cuisine that walks the line between ranch and fancy. The four-star luxuries of your private log cabin or lodge room will lure you into forgetting all your worries and relaxing, because out here the only distraction is the rustling of the aspens in the breeze and the howl of the coyotes at night.
